Recycling Wood
With growing pressure from the governmental and environmental groups there has been growing pressure to recycle most types of waste wood in the UK.
Here TBD Morris we were one of the UK former recycling centres and have been recycling wood since 1968. Waste wood comes to our transfer station via multiple routes either by domestic or commercial waste and we recycle and re-sell the wood as chip board, mulch etc…
Business Waste
It has been estimated that businesses in the UK produce 2 million tonnes of wood waste each year. This may come from manufacturing processes or from packaging, such as pallets and packing cases. As waste disposal becomes ever more expensive for businesses, recycling and reusing wood waste will often be a more cost effective option. Local Authorities and waste management companies provide waste collection and recycling services for businesses.
Recycling Soil
The company started operating in 1948 and it has grown rapidly to become the largest soil and aggregate supplier in the region and has a large treatment and processing facility where skip waste, construction waste and demolition waste are segregated for recycling.
It supplies various grades of soil, bricks, recycled aggregates and soil treatments. Customers range from national house builders, civil engineers and developers to local authorities and government agencies. Both treated soil and recycled bricks can be purchased at competitive rates.
TBD Morris recycles an extremely high percentage of the material it collects and is involved with many forms of recycling and landscape projects. It works closely with the WDA and Environment Agency to encourage the re-use of recycled materials for applications such as sports pitches, retail parks, and housing estates.
Recycling Plastics
Unlike some materials, recycled plastics can be fully recycled again at the end of their lifespan.
Recycling just a single plastic bottle can conserve enough energy to light a 60W light bulb for up to 6 hours. Facts such as this show that the economic benefits of recycling are clear, public awareness must increase and compliance is mandatory.
The market for recycled plastic products is growing steadily, and currently includes: recycling polyethylene bin liners and recycling carrier bags; PVC sewer pipes, flooring and window frames; building insulation board; video and compact disc cassette cases; fencing and garden furniture; water butts, garden sheds and composters; seed trays; anoraks and fleeces; fibre filling for sleeping bags and duvets; and a variety of office accessories
The scope for plastic recycling within the UK is enormous. Results of the most recent survey indicate that an estimated 24,000 tonnes of plastic bottles were collected for recycling in 2003. However, this still only amounts to approximately 5.5% of the 9.1 billion plastic bottles sold in the UK every year.
Recycling Cardboard/Paper
Over 160 million tonnes of waste card is produced in the UK per year, TBD Morris is proud of its heritage and achievements in cardboard and paper recycling. Our aim is to help meet governmental targets for the coming years.
